Living Water

The Plan

After the earthquake, Living Water Haiti ramped up operations in the following three regions:

Cap-Haïtien:

Keeping Our Commitments

Cap-Haïtien has always been the base from which we serve north Haiti. The region was largely unaffected by the earthquake, but still in great need, as it always had been. Our work continues in this area to honor commitments made while we strengthen operations in earthquake-affected areas.

Léogâne:

Worst-Affected Area

A United Nations assessment called Léogâne Haiti’s “worst-affected area.” We faced special challenges here as the home of one of our team-leaders was destroyed, leaving some of our work-tools buried! We’re glad our staff was safe, and glad for the opportunity to better equip them to serve.

Port-au-Prince:

The Heart of the Destruction

The destruction of Port-au-Prince remains palpable. The rubble of razed homes and businesses remains throughout the city. The sight of people slowly removing debris with shovels and wheelbarrows is common, even a year later. The destruction forced people into semi-rural areas just outside of the capitol. These are the people we serve, and will continue to serve.
