“This will change our community.”

While our team repaired this well, a little boy kept grabbing our tools, saying that he wanted to help us fix the pump. He mimicked our actions, and we told him that he could work repairing wells when he grows up.
After we finished fixing the pump, we talked to the people who had gathered at the well about practicing good hygiene. It appeared that they had never heard anything like what we were saying before. We hope that the lessons they learned and the clean water from the repaired pump will help reduce the occurrences of the diseases like typhoid and malaria that have run rampant through the community.
A teacher named Edward came to us after the repair and the hygiene lesson. He told us that the women and children were having to walk very far to get water that wasn’t even clean. “It has been a long time since we had good water here,” he said. “This has been a blessing and will change our community. Thank you.”
