"We have been in the dark."
UGANDA – Rwentobo, Ntungamo
GPS: 01 03.414 S, 030 24.436 E
Rwentobo is located on the far end of western Uganda, almost on the Rwandan border. The local people showed our team the stream that separates the two countries—which also happens to be the main source of water for most of the villages here. The water in the stream is very dirty, and the people of Rwentobo depend on this dirty water for daily use. They swim in the stream, bring their animals to drink here, wash clothes, and then collect that same water to take home for cooking, bathing, and drinking. Cholera, typhoid, dysentery, malaria, and diarrhea were all common diseases here.
This community has been waiting patiently for this new well. Living Water Uganda attempted to drill here twice last year, but because of the unique geology in the area we had to wait and manufacture eight steel casings specifically for this site.
The school in Rwentobo has 326 students, many of whom attended the health and hygiene classes held at the school during the drilling project. After the classes were finished, Christopher Rwakista (the Head Teacher), remarked, “We have been in the dark. There are so many things we have not been doing, but now we have learned how. Thank you, Living Water, on behalf of the school and the community. Thank you for persisting and having the faith to come back to us. Thank you for saving us.”

God Willing, I'm going to come visit and support all that LWI is doing in Uganda this summer. It's amazing the light that can be shown though education and hygiene, and above all the Love of Christ. You're in my prayers!
